A participatory songwriting workshop series led by invited musicians who are actively reclaiming their heritage, language, and cultural identity through their music. Presented as part of LunarFest GTA, these workshops invite youth and community participants to explore how personal history, language, and lived experience can become powerful creative material.
No prior musical training is required. Through accessible songwriting activities—such as shared lyric writing, call-and-response, and group composition—participants will experience how music can act as a bridge between cultures and generations. The workshops emphasize collaboration, listening, and mutual respect, reinforcing the idea that cultural identity is not fixed, but something that can be actively shaped and expressed.
